Hoosier Heroes: Eligibility Requirements
The deadline for submitting 2009-10 Hoosier Heroes nominations is now past. Nominations received after December 11, 2009 were deemed ineligible. Information below is presented as a guideline, and may be subject to change for the 2010-2011 program.
Students may participate in the Hoosier Heroes™ scholarship competition if they:
• are a student currently enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade
• attend a public, private, parochial or home-school in Indiana
Nomination Rules and Requirements

Nominees must be living.

Nominees must have lived in Indiana at some point in their lives, but they do not have to be Indiana residents at the time
of nomination.

Students may submit only one nomination per category.

Students may not submit the same nomination for multiple categories.

Nomination essays must be the student's own work and address EACH of the following:

Hoosier Hero's Indiana background
-
Hoosier Hero's accomplishments/contributions
-
Why the student admires the Hoosier Hero
-
How the Hoosier Hero has inspired/motivated the student and/or others

Nomination Essays should be typed in Times New Roman 12-point font, double spaced, and no more than 1200 words. Essays submitted online must be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format!

The following should be listed in the upper right hand corner of each page of a Hoosier Heroes nomination essay
- Student's First and Last Name
- Junior or Senior (specify)
- Name of High School
- Name of Teacher
- Hoosier Hero's Name
- Page Number

Each Hoosier Heroes nomination essay MUST be accompanied by a Hoosier Heroes nomination form. Online submissions require the completion of the online nomination form.

Entries will be judged on the quality of the nominations: i.e. writing quality, persuasiveness, research completed, inspirational value and thoughtfulness.

Judges' decisions are final.
